PHP 8.2 is Now Available to all our customers
BizHosting has some important updates to share around PHP*! We are pleased to announce that PHP 8.2 is now available to all customers!
Each release branch of PHP is fully supported for two years from its initial stable release. During this period, bugs and security issues that have been reported are fixed and are released in regular point releases.
After this two year period of active support, each branch is then supported for an additional year for critical security issues only. Releases during this period are made on an as-needed basis: there may be multiple point releases, or none, depending on the number of reports.
PHP 8.0 will reach End-of-Life and no longer receive security support by the end of this year (after 26 Nov 2023). In response to this, PHP 8.0 will no longer be available on the BizHosting platform after that date.
BizHosting have already undertaken an upgrade of all of our WordPress clients, moving them on to PHP 8.1, which will be supported until Nov 2024, and we are performance testing some of our own sites on PHP 8.2.
For the few non-WordPress sites we host that have software packages still requiring PHP 7.4, BizHosting will continue to invest in ongoing security and software updates of those packages through 2024, to help those sites become fully compatible with PHP 8.0+ as quickly as possible.
